       Ireland King Defend.r of y.e Faith &c.a   To Our Trusty and well beloved Nathaniell Blackiston Esq.r
       Greeting   Know Yee that Wee Reposing Especiall Trust and Confidence in y.e Prudence Courge and
       Loyallty of you y.e said Nathaniell Blackiston of our especiall Grace certaine Knowledge & meere
       motion Have Thought fitt To Constitute and Appoint And by these p.rsents doe Constitute you y.e said Nathaniell
       Blackiston our Cap.t Gen.ll and Govern.r in Chiefe in and over our Province and Teritory of Maryland in America
       And Wee doe hereby require and Comand you to Doe and Execute all things in due manner that shall be long unto y.e
       said Comand and y.e Trust reposed in you according to y.e severall Powers and Directions granted or appointed you
       by This Comission and y.e Instructions herewith given you or by each further Power Instruction and Authority
       as shall at any Time hereafter be granted and appointed you under our signett and signe manuell or by any
       order in our Privy Councill and according to each reasonable Law and Statutes as are now in force or hereafter
       shall be made and agreed upon by you w.th the Advice and Consent of y.e Councill and Assembly of y.e said Province
       under your Governm.t in such manner and forme as is hereafter Expressed And our Will and Pleasure is
       that you The Said Nathaniel Blackston having (after y.e Publication of these our Letters Pattents first
       Taken y.e Oathes appointed by Act of Parliam.t to be Taken instead of y.e Oathes of alligiance and suppremacy
       as alsoe y.e Test menconed In y.e Act of Parliament made in y.e Twenty fifth year of y.e Reigne of King Charles the
       second Entituled an Act for y.e Preventing abuses which may happen from popish reusants  Together w.th
       the Oath for y.e Due Execution of y.e Office and Trust of our Captan Gen.ll and Govern.r in Chiefe in and over
       our said Province and Teritory of Maryland All w.ch our Councill in y.e said Province or any five of them
       members thereof have hereby full power and authority and are required to administer unto And having
       Likwise subscribed y.e Assotiation mencond in an Act of Parliam.t made y.e seaventh and eight years of
       our Reigne entituled An Act for the better securing his Maj.ties Royall person and Governm.t you shall
       Administer to each of y.e members of of our said Councill as well y.e Oathes appointed received by Act of Parliam.t
       to be taken in stead of y.e Oathes of Allegiance and Suppremacy as y.e aformenconed Test and y.e Oath for y.e Due
       Execution of their places and Trusts And Likewise require them to subscribe y.e Foremenconed Assotiacon
       And Wee doe hereby Give and Grant unto you full Power and Authority to suspend any of y.e members of
       the said Councill from sitting voating and assisting therin if you shall find Just Cause for soe doeing And if
       it shall att any time happen by y.e Death departure out of the Province suspencon of any of y.e Councellors
       or Otherwise There shall be a vacancy in y.e said Councill Any three Whereof are hereby appointed to
       be a Quoram you are to signifie y.e same unto us by y.e first oppertunity That wee may under our signett and signe
       manuell Constitute and Appoint others in their stead But that our Affaires at this Distance may not suffer
       for want of a Due number of councellors if ever it shall happen that there be left then seaven of them
       Residing in the said Province Wee Doe hereby give and Grant unto you full Power and Authority to choose soe
       many persons out of y.e ^Principall^ Freeholders Inhabitants thereof as will make up y.e full number of y.e said Councill to
       be seaven and noe more which persons by virtue of such choice shall be to all Intents and purposes Coun.rs
       in y.e said Province untill they shall be confirmed by us Or that by y.r nomination of others by us Und.r
       our signe manuell or signett y.e said Councill shall have seaven or more persons in it And Wee doe
       Hereby Give and Grant unto you full Power and Authority with y.e Advice and Consent of our said
       Councill from time to time as need shall require to Summon and Call Gen.ll Assemblyes of y.e free holders
       within our Government according to y.e Usage of our Province and Teritory of Maryland And our will
       & pleasure is that the persons thereupon duly ellected by y.e Major Partie of y.e freeholders of y.e respective
       Countys and places and soe returned and having before their sitting taken y.e Oathes appointed by Act of
       Parliament to be Taken instead of y.e Oathes of Allegiance and Suppremacy and also y.e foremenconed Test
       and Likewise subscribed y.e aforemenconed assotiacon Which Oathes you shall Comissionate fitt psons under y.e
       Seale of Maryland to administer unto them And without the Taking of which Oathes and Test and subscribe
       which assotiation none shall be capable of sitting the elected shall be elected and held y.e Gen.ll Assembly of that
       Province And that you y.e said Nathaniell Blackston by and w.th y.e advice and consent of our said Councill and
       Assembly or the major Part of them Respectively have full Power and Authority to make constitute and ordaine
       Lawes Statutes and ordinances for y.e Publique peace well faire and Good Governm.t of our said Province &
       the Inhabitants and such others as shall resort thereto for the benefitt of us our heires and successors Which said
       Laws Statutes and ordinances are to be as neare as may be Agreeable to the Laws and Statutes of this our Kingdom
       of England Provided that such Laws Statutes and Ordinances of what Nature or Duration soever be
