841 (821 Maryland fs Know all men by these presents that we Dinah Nuthead of ann Arrundell County widow Robert Carvill and William Taylard of S.t Maryes County Gent.n are held and firmly bound unto his Ex.cy Francis Nicholson Esq.r Cap.t Gen.ll and Governor in Chief &c.a in the sume of hundred pounds of Lawfull money of England to the which payment well and truly to be made & done we bind our selves each and every of us our and either of our heires Ex.rs and Adm.rs Joyntly and Severally for the whole and in the whole firmly by these p.rsents sealed w.th our seales and Dated the Fourteenth day of May Anno Dom 1696 Whereas the above bound Dinah Nuthead having p her peticon humbly supplicated his Ex.cy the Govern.r for Leave and Lycence to sett up her printing press for printing of blanck bills bonds writts warrants of Att.ry Le.rs of Admin.rscon and other necessary blanks usefull for y.e publique Offices of this Province which being referred to the assembly and there assented too and by this Ex.cy and Councill accordingly Ordered she giving bond &c.a Now the Condicon of this obligation is such that if the s.d Dinah Nuthead shall Excercise and imploy his printing press and letters in noe other use than for the printing of blanck bills bonds writts warrants of Attorney Letters of Administracon and other like blancks as aboves.d nor suffer any other pson to make use thereof aney otherwise than aforesaid unless by a particular Lycence from his Ex.cy the Govern.r first had and obtained and further shall save harmless and undempnified his said Ex.cy the Govern.r from aney damage that may hereafter ensue by the said Dinahs misapplying or suffering to be misapplyed the afores.d printing press or Letters otherwise then to the true intent and meaning before Expressed Then this obligacon to be voyd or else to remain in full force and virtue his Sealed & Delivered in w.th the interlinacon of (each of us Dinah O Nuthead (sealed) in p.rsence of us our) in the eighth line mark W Wriothesley Robert Carvill (sealed) Hen Denton W Taylard (sealed) Jn.o Newsam S.r Applicacon is made to us for the Discharge of a bond given at Petuxent River in Maryland by Abell Jeffries master of the Ketch America on or about 9.th June 1690 w.th condicon to Cary her Loading of the enumerated goods to same Port of England of Wales or to the Towne of Berwick upon Tweed And it being affirmed that y.e Certificate Granted by the officers at Lyme the 4.th December 1698 And Countersigned att this Board the 13.th of the same month was miscarryed and Lost whereby it was testifyed that the Loading had been Discharged & Landed in the s.d Port of Lyme You May affixe this order to the afores.d bond in Discharge thereof unless you have aneything further to object We are S.r Y.r humble servants Samuell Clarke Custome house Ben Overton London 9.th Septemb.r 1697 H Robart Govern.r of Maryland Directed Robert Henley For his Ex.cy Collo.ll Francis Nicholson Govern.r of Maryland The above is a true Copy taken from the originall Lodged in his Ex.cys hands and ordered to be Entered in the prov.ll Office and Councill Book of this his Matys Province Hen Denton Clk Councill London 18 December 1695 Invoyce of Goods on board the ship James Robert Larting master for the proper acco.t and Riscoe of M.r George Plater for the use of the Province of Maryland viz.t
