8 9 10 12 20   Anchor in the af.d River and by Gods grace bound for England or Holland to say eighteen
21 24 25 26    hogsheads of Maryland Leafe tob.o in Cask being marked and numbred as in the margent & are
28 30 11         to be Delvered in the like good ord.r and well condiconed at y.e aforesaid Port of London or
       Holland (the Danger of the seas Excepted) unto M.r Micajah Perry upon the proper account
       and Risque of S.r Thomas Lawrence or to his Assignes he or they paying freight for the ^s.d^ goods
       seaven pounds sterl for England or eight pounds sterl for Holland w.th primage and average
       accustomed In wittness whereof the master or purser of the said ship hath affirmed to three
       bills of Lading all of this tennor and Date y.e one of w.ch three bills being accomplished the
       other two to stand voyde and soe God send the good ship to her Desired port in safty Amen

Maryland   Know all men by these p.rsents that I George Plater of y.e Province of Maryland Esq.r in
       consideracon of the sume of two hundred pounds sterl Lawfull money of England allready in my
       hands before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents wherewith I confess my selfe contented
       and paid have bargained and sold and by these presents doe fully clearly and absolutly bargain &
       sell unto M.r Benjamen Hatley of London Merchant his heires Ex.rs Adm.rs or certain Att.ry
       Eight negroe slaves viz.t three men and five Women comonly Knowne and by me called by the
       names of Jack Madagasco Jack and Robin the five women named as follows black Nann Maria
       Betty Aggaltha and Hester To have and To hold y.e said eight negroes to y.e s.d Benjamen
       Hatley his Ex.rs Admin.rs or assignes to his and their owne proper Use for Ever and in case
       any of the afores.d negroes should Dye before the said Hatley or his Att.ry doth fetch them away
       from off my Plantacon then and such case y.e said Hatley or his Att.ry to chuse one or more negroes
       to supply y.e Roomes of such Deceased negroes to y.e number of Eight And I y.e said George
       Plater my heires Ex.rs or Admin.rs am hearby bound and Doe hereby promise to Defend and make
       good y.e s.d Eight negroes to y.e said Hatley or his attorney Ex.rs or Adm.rs for ever Against all
       people and to provide for y.e said Hatley or his Att.ry (In Case I have them not) good suffitient
       negroes for him to take his choice of In Case of Death of any of them before fettred away as
       whereof I have sett my hand and seale this twenty fifth day of May In the tenth Yeare of the
       Reigne of our Soveraigne Lord King W.m the third Annoq Domini 1698
