       Know all men by these p.rsents that wee W.m Dent and Edward Boothby of y.e Province of Maryland
       Gen.t are holden and firmly bound unto his Ex.cy Fr Nicholson Esq.r his Ma.tyes Cap.t Gen.ll and
       Chiefe Govern.r of this Province in y.e full and just sume of One thousand pounds of Lawfull
       Money of England to be p.d to y.e s.d Fra Nicholson Esq.r his Ex.rs Adm.rs or Assignes to y.e which
       payment well and truely to be made Wee binde our Selves and Either of our selves by himself
       our and either of our heires Ex.rs Adm.rs Joyntly and Severally for y.e whole and in y.e whole firmly
       by these p.rsents wittness our hands and seales Octob.r y.e 13.th 1696

       The Condicon of y.e above written Obligacon is such that whereas his Ex.cy Fra Nicholason Esq.r afs.d
       hath Comissionated and appoynted y.e s.d W.m Dent to be Naval Officer for Potomack River w.thin
       the said Province by his Comission bearing date with these psenth now if y.e s.d W.m Dent shall well
       and truly pforme y.e s.d Office According to y.e severall Acts of Parliment in that case made and
       provided and shall Observe y.e Directions contained in y.e Acts of Assembley of this Province
       relating to y.e Duty of Navall Officers And from time to time save Defend and keep harmless y.e
       the s.d Fra Nicholson Esq.r from all Damage loss and Charges that he y.e s.d Fran shall sustaine
       at any time by reason of y.e s.d Dents Nopformance of his s.d Office (soe long as he shall enjoy y.e same)
       As in y.e s.d seve.ll Laws is enacted and ordaind then y.e above Obligacon to be voyd and of none effect
       Otherwise to be and remaine in full force and virtue                                 Will.m Dent   (X) sealed

       Gen.ll and Chiefe Govern.r of this Province in y.e full and just sume of one thousand pounds sterling
       of lawfull money of England to be p.d to y.e s.d Francis Nicholson Esq.r his Ex.rs Adm.rs or Assignes
       to y.e sole which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind our selves & either of us by him
       self our and either of our heires Ex.rs and Adm.rs Joyntly and severally for y.e whole and in y.e whole
       firmly by these p.rsents wittness our hands and seales this Tenth day of Octob.r 1696

       shall observe y.e directions contained in y.e Acts of Assembly of this Province relating to the Duty of
