726 (716 all respects as Wee ourselves might or could doe were wee personally present Ratifieing and allowing for firme and effectuall all and whatsoever our said Attorney shall Lawfully doe or cause to be done in our names and to our life in pursuance of these presents In Witness whereof I the said Mainhardt Duke of Schonburg & Leinster and Wee the said S.r James Houblon Henry Scardevile and John Hook have hereunto set our hands and seals the Twenty Eighth day of March in the sixth year of the reign of our soveraign Lord and Lady William and Mary by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King and Queen Defenders of the Faith &c Annoq Dm 1694 Schonburg & Leinster (seale) Sealed & deliverd in the p.rsence of us Ja Houblon (seale) W.m Thompson Hen Scardevile (seale) Edw.d Stanton Sam Briggs J Hooke (seale) Sealed & delivered by his Grace y.e Duke of Schonburg in the p.rsence of Capon John Fraignean By the Commissioners for Executing the Office of Lord High Admirall of England Ireland &c Whereas Request has been made unto Us by Francis Nicholson Esq.r Cap.t Gen.ll & Governo.r in Cheife in and over their Maj.ts Province and Territory of Maryland in America that he may hold the place of Vice Admirall of tha Province and Territory of Maryland in America Which Wee have thought fitt according to the Power given Us by their Ma.ts Commission under the Great Seale of England to grant These are therefore to Direct and require You to Cause Letters Patents of the Vice Admiralty of the Province and Territory of Maryland in America to be issued out of the High Court of Admiralty in their Ma.ts Names to the said Francis Nicholson Esq.r to continue untill further order in as Large and Ample Manner as the same has been formerly granted to any others or According to the Usuall Forme of Letters Patents granted to Vice Admiralls in England with Power to ordaine and Appoint his Deputies and Under Officers and with Proviso that Just Account be made every Yeare and in Default the said Letters Patents to cease and Determine For Which this shall be your Warrant Dated at the Admiralty Office this 19.th Day of Feb.ry 1693/4 To S.r Charles Hedges Kn.t J Lowther Judge of the High Co.rt H [illegible] of Admiralty Rob.t Austen By Com.d of the Com.rs Ro Rich J Sothorne |
