724 (714 It is now about a Yeare since his Ma.ty was pleased to Grant me his Letters Pattents for all Wrecks Derelicts &.ca between the lattitudes of twelve degrees south and forty Degrees North for twenty yeares for the secureing of which and for the settlement of due correspondencys I have made & appointed Trustees & Agents who have already used severall Methods of Discovery and also considered that it is Necessary (for preventing any Disputes that may happen between the persons Imployed by them and other Discoverers Coasters or any others) That their Ma.ts above s.d Letters Pattents be Inrolled in the severall Governm.ts belonging to the Crowne of England that are Comprehended within the Limitts of the said Grant In order whereunto I have by their advice Intrusted My Agent & Attorney for this Affaire and have transmitted unto him a Duplicate of the said Grant for itts Inrollment in the Records of the Governm.t of And Pray your Countenance and Assistance of him the said in pursuance of the Rights and Profitts granted to me therein that their Ma.ts intended favour may not be diverted nor avoyded I have Directed my said Agent att all times to give me or my Trustees an acco.t of your Ex.ncys favour and Regard towards him that I may acknowledge the same and wherein I may be any ways serviceable to their Ma.ts Province und.r your Care or to your selfe you may relye on S.r Your humble servant Schenburg & Leinster To His Excellency Francis Nicholson Esq.r Cap.t Gen.ll & Governor in Cheif of their Ma.ts Province of Maryland S.r His Grace haveing Communicated this Inclosed Letter to the Govern.r of Maryland unto Us his Trustees in the above said Affaire hath desired Us to acquaint you that wee shall at all times hold Correspondence with you and receive your Letters and Informations for the advantage of his Grace and others concerned And Wee doe further acquaint you that Wee have agreed to allow to your self and others Imployed by you out of any Wrecke Derelicte &.ca that you or they shall discover seize and secure one tenth parte of the Cleare profitts thereof for Your Incouragement in this service You may at all times direct Your Letters for Us to S.r James Houblons of this City Kn.t S.r Yo.r humble serv.ts Ja Houblon London March 22.th 1693/4 H Scardevile J Hooke |
