595) 605 for ever In Witness whereof the p.rties afsd to these Indentures interchangeably have put their hand & seales the day & yeare first above written Sealed and Delivered Edw Middleton (sealed) in the p.rsence of Richard Warner S.t Maryes Feb the 22.d 1691 Tho Grunwin Then came Edward Middleton before us and Arthur Kieff acknowledged the within Mentioned Deed to bee his act & Deed Hen Denton mayor Philip Clarke Reccord.r This 5.th day of March 1691 Came Thomas Grunwin and as attorney of the within Named Edward Middleton by vertue of his power to the sd Grunwin granted did acknowledge the within Deed to be the Act & Deed of the sd Middleton before us under written two of his Maj.ties Justices of S.t Maries County John Llewellin Recorded 13 February Anno 1692 Edw.d Greenhalgh This Indenture made the Fifth day of March in the Fifth yeare of the Reign of our soveraign Lord and Lady William & Mary by the grace of God King and Queen of England Scotland France & Ireland Defend.rs of the Faith &c and in the yeare of our Lord God 1692 Between Coll William Digges of the Collony of Virginia and Elizabeth his wife of the one part and Lionell Copley of this Province of Maryland Esq.r of the other part Witnesseth That Whereas the R.t Hon.ble Ceacilius Lord Baltemore late Lord Prop.ry of this Province of Maryland by his letters Pattents under the great seale of the sd Province bearing date the 25 day of September in the yeare of our Lord God 1666 for the consideracon and upon the Conditions and Tearmes therein mentioned did grant Demise betake and to farme lett unto William Smith by the name of Lieuetenant W.m Smith all that parcell of Land called Smith Towne then formerly in thenure or occupation of Leonard Calvert Esq.r Lyeing on the East side of S.t Georges River bounded by the sd River for the Length of Twelve p.rches from Neer the Spring downe the River on the South by a line drawne East for the length of Four p.rches on the East by a line drawne North for the bredth of twelve p.rches on the North by a line drawne West from the end of the North line fourty perches to the above sd S.t George River conteyning and then laid out for three Acres of Land To have & to hold the same to him the sd William Smith his Ex.rs Adm.rs or assignes to the full end and tearme of one and thirty yeares from the day of the date thereof fully to be compleat and ended yeilding and paying therefore yearely on Bushell of wheate at two payments viz of Lady day and at Michaelmas day by ever and equall portion w.th other |
