       in the Ten County Courts in the said Province a yearly Fee or
       Gratuity of the Tenth part of one yeares Value of each place
       and no more from such Clerks as shall be so Nominated
       and appointed by him the said Value to be Estimated by
       their Maj.ties Governor and Councill of Mariland for the
       time being according to the said Report Whereof their
       Maj.ties Governor and Councill of Maryland and all other
       concerned are to take due Notice

       England Scotland France & Ireland Defenders of the
       Faith &c To our Trusty and Welbeloved Captaine Francis
       Nicholson our Lieutenant Governor of our Colony and Dominion
       of Viriginia in America Greeting Whereas by our Commission  
       under our Great Seale of England bearing date the 27.th day of
       June in the third yeare of our Reign Wee have thought fitt
       to constitute and appoint our Trusty and Welbeloved Lionell
       Copley Esq.r our Cap.t Generall & Governor in Cheife in and over
       our Province and Territory of Maryland in America And
       Whereas Wee have repose especiall Trust and Confidence in
       your Loyalty Courage and Circonspection Wee Doe by these
       Presents constitute and appoint you to be our Lieutenant
       Governor of our said Province and Territory of Maryland
       To have hold and Exercise & Enjoy the said place and office
       for and Dureing our Pleasure with all Rights Priviledges
       Profitts Perquisitts and advantages to the same belonging or
       appertaÿning And in Case of the Death or Absence of the said
       Lionell Copley Wee Doe hereby authorize and require you to
       Execute and performe all and singular the Powers and Directions
       contained in our said Commission to Lionel Copley Esq.r and
       such Instructions as Wee have already or hereafter shall from
       time to time send unto him and You are to observe and follow
       such orders and Directions as you shall receive from us the said
       Lionell Copley or any other our Cheif Governor of our said
       Province and Territory of Maryland for the time being Dureing
       his Residence within the same And Wee hereby Command all and
       singular our officers Ministers and loving subjects of our said
       Province and Territory and others whom it may concerne to take
       due Notice hereof and to give theire ready obedience accordingly
       Given at our Court at Kensington the 24.th day off February 1691/2
       in the fourth yeare of our Reigne
