4 Sealed & delivered by the within named Barbara Van Sweringen in p.rsence of us Henry Carew the marke of Curly A Calvert Memorandum that this day to witt the third day of June in the first yeare of the Dominion of Charles &c Annoq Dom 1767 before us Philip Calvert & Baker Brooke two of the Justices of the Provincial Court came the within named Garrat Van Sweringen & Barbara his wife in their proper persons (& the said Barbara being by us alone & secretly Examined according to the forme of a certaine Act of Assembly in that case provided) did acknowledge the lands in the within written Indenture menconed to be the Right of him the within named Robert Ridgely or these which the said Robert Ridgely hath of the Guift of them the said Garrat & Barbara And for them & their heyres have Remised & made quite Clayme thereof to the said Robert & his heyres for ever And further they the said Garrat & Barbara have granted for them & their heyres that the said lands within menconed unto him the said Robert & his heyres against them the said Garrat & Barbara & their heyres they will warrant for ever And for this Acknowledgem.t Remise quite clayme & Agreem.t the said Robert hath given them the said Garrat & Barbara Twenty thousand pounds of tobacco Taken before us the day & yeare abovesaid Philip Calvert the 28.th day of Novemb.r 1676 Baker Brooke Then Received of M.r Robert Ridgely for Alienacon of the within menconed p.rmisses the quantity of One Shilling Sterling money by me Clement Hill Sheriffe of S.t Maryes County This Indenture made the Twentieth day of Novemb.r in the first yeare of the Dominion of the Right Honble Charles Absolute Lord & Propry of the Provinces of Maryland & Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c and in the yeare of our Lord God 1676 Betweene Alexander Younger of S.t Maryes County in the Province of Maryland gentl & Sarah his now wife late the Relict of W.m Claw of S.t Maryes County aforesaid deceased of the one part And Charles Boteler of the County of Calvert gentl of the other part Whereas the said W.m Claw dyed seized of a parcel of land called Daleys Desire lying on the North Side of Sassafrax River & held by Patent from his Lordpp the Lord Proprietary beareing date the Twentieth day of July one thousand six hundred seaventy foure and laid out for five hundred acres more or lesse And whereas also the said W.m Claw by his last will and Testam.t in writing under his hand & Seale beareing date the first day of October in the yeare of our Lord One thousand six hundred seaventy & five did Give & bequeath all that tract of land lying att the head of Sassafrax River called by the name of Dawlyes Desire unto his loveing wife Sarah Claw & her heyres relacon being thereunto had more att large itt doth & may appeare Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said Alexander Younger & Sarah his now wife for & in consideration of the full sume & just quantity of tenn thousand pounds of good sound & every way well condiconed Merchantable tobacco & Casg to them in hand paid before the ensealeing & delivery hereof by the said Charles Boteler well & truly paid & secured to be paid the receipt whereof & themselves thereof & therewith fully satisfied the said Alexander Younger & Sarah his now wife & either of them doth hereby cleerly & absolutely acquitt Release & discharge the said Charles Boteler his heyres Ex.rs & Admest.rs & every of them by these p.rsents Have |
