31 James Frisby Aged Twenty six yeares Sworne saith That he hath Received of John Dixson for the Use of John Turpin Adm.r of William Hewit deceased the said vallue being on the Accompte of the said William Hewitt as appeares by my Receipt Sworne before me this 12.th of June 1677 The Marke PH of Philip Ologia Simon Dawkins Aged thirty four yeares or thereabouts Sworne & Examined saith That he went to Christopher Andrews att Swann point & demanded Tobacco of him for the use of M.r John Turpin and he received of Christopher Andrews att his Tobacco house Two hogsheads of tobacco upon the Accompte of A bill he had then with him in March 1676 The Tobacco was Received for M.r Turpins use the Contents I Doe not well remember but that I Did Receive two hogsheads is to the Certaine Knowledge of yo.r Deponent w.ch further saith Not Sworne before me Ex Justiciarys Com 9 Balt George Vtie Tobacco Recd for M.r John Turpin in the yeare 1675/6 as followeth
M.r John Turpen use p me Henry Haslewood then his Receiver Feb.ry 1675/6 Die Saturni June y.e 9.th 1677 M.r Henry Haslewood Deposeth according to the Desire of M.r Edward English that the Above Mentioned sume of four Thousand Six hundred fifty & Eight pounds of tobacco is the totall Sume which he this Deponent Received for the Use of M.r John Turpin by Bills Due unto M.r WIlliam Hewit deceased &c Henry Haselwood Jurat Coram me June y.e 9.th 1677 George Wells Henry Johnson Cler Baltemore Recd the fourteenth of March 1675 of M.r William Salesbury by the hands of Joseph Swayre the Sume of Twelve hundred sixty two pounds of tobacco being due to the Estate of William Hewitt deceased I say Recd 1262.l p John Turpin Adm.r The Tobacco before Mentioned in this Receipt William Salesbury being sworne saith itt was paid According as is before written Sworne before me James Staveley This Bill Bindeth me James Phillipps of Baltemore County in Maryland planter Me My heires Exec.rs and Adm.rs to pay or Cause to be paid unto William Hewett of Barbados Marchant him ^his^ heires Exec.rs or Certaine Attorney the full and Just Sume of Two Thousand One hundred Eighty and Two pounds of Good sound Marchantable ^leafe^ Tobacco & Caske to be paid in Bush River att or before the tenth of October next Ensueing the Date hereof As Witnes my hand & seale this the Signed Sealed & Delivered July y.e 3.th in the p.rsence of Us Anno 167 Jn.o Turpin M Stykellkampe The 5.th Jan.ry 1675 Recd then of James Phillips upon the Accompte of Cap.t George Wells the sum of Two Thousand Two hundred Eighty One pounds of Tobacco due to him upon bill & Acco.t I say recd 2281.l p Jo Turpin |
