                      On the Backside of the foregoing Indenture was written (viz.t)
       Aprill the Twenty Fifth One Thousand Six hundred Seaventy Seaven The Within
       written Deed Indented was in Open Court Acknowledged by the within named William Calvert
       Esq.r to the uses in the same Deed named

       This Indenture made the Tenth day of November in the Four and Fortyeth yeare of the
       Dominion of the Right Hon.ble Cæcilius &c And in the yeare of Our Lord God One Thousand
       Six hundred Seaventy Five Betweene Thomas Courtney of the County of S.t Maryes in the
       Province of Maryland Planter of the one part and William Burgis of the Said County and
       Province Planter of the other part Witnesseth that the said Thomas Courtney for and in Consideration
       of the Sume of Five Thousand pounds of tobacco to him in hand payd by the Said William
       Burgis before the Ensealing and Delivery of these p.rsents the Receipt whereof he the said Thomas
       Courtney doth hereby Acknowledge And thereof and of Every part thereof Doth Clearly & Absolutely
       acquitt Exonerate and Discharge him the said William Burgis his heyres Exec.rs and Adm.rs
       by these p.rsents and for Divers other Good Causes and Consideracons him thereunto moveing hath
       Given Granted Aliened Bargained and Sold And by these p.rsents Doe Give Grant Bargaine Alien
       and Sell unto the Said William Burgis his heyres & Assignes for Ever All that Tract parcell
       or Divident of Land Called Courtneys Neck Lyeing in S.t Maryes County Betweene Pyne hill River
       and A Runn Called Cruttens Runn Beginning for Breadth att A Marked Oake Standing by
       the Said Cruttens Runn and Running from the Said Runn upp the Bay North Fifty Perches
       to A marked Oake Standing by the Said Piney River bounded on the West with A Line
       drawne West from the Said Oake to A parcell of Land formerly laid Out for John Halfehead
       for the Length of Four hundred and Eighty Perches bounded on the south with A Line drawne
       from the End of the former line south Fifty Perches Bounded on the East with A Line
       drawne from the End of the former line East and with the Said Cruttens Runn for the length
       of Four hundred and Eighty Perches till it intersect A Parralell from the First Marked Tree
       On the North with the Bay Chesepiake Conteyning and then laid Out for One hundred & Fifty
       Acres more or lesse With all and Every the Lands Tenements houses buildings Edefices Gardens
       Orchards Pastures Rights Members & Appurtenances to the Said parcell of land belonging or in
       anywise apperteyning Together with all Deeds Evidences Pattents Grants Writeings or minuments
       whatsoever of and Concerning the same To have and to hold the said Land & Premisses to the Only
       Proper use and behoofe of him the said William Burgis his heyres and Assignes for Ever And
       the said Thomas Courtney Doth hereby for himselfe his heyres Exec.rs and Adm.rs Covenant & Agree
       to and with the said William Burgis his heyres Exec.rs and Adm.rs That he the said Thomas Courtney
       att the time of the Ensealing and Delivery of these p.rsents are and Doe Stand Seized of the Said Land
       and premisses with theire appurtenances of A Firme Good Sure and indefeasable Estate of Inheritance
       in Fee Simple and that he hath Good Right Full power and Lawfull Authority to
       Grant Bargaine and Sell the Same to him the Said William Burgis and his heyres against all
       manner of persons whatsoever And that the said Land & Premisses are Free & Cleare from all  
       manner of Incumbrances whatsoever The Rent and Services due and payable unto the said
       Lord Propry & his heyres Lord & Lords of the Fee alwayes Excepted and Surprized And the
       Said Thomas Courtney doth further for himselfe his heyres Exec.rs and Adm.rs Covenant promise
       and Agree to and With the said William Burgis his heyres and Assignes and Every of them
       by these p.rsents That att any Time within this Seaven Yeares Next Comeing att the Reasonable
       Request and att the proper Cost and Charges in the Law of him the said William Burgis
       his heyres Exec.rs or Assignes to Doe Acknowledge make or Execute any other Lawfull Conveyance
       or Conveyances Assurance or Assurances in the Law whether it be by Fine or Recovery or
       Inrollment of these p.rsents or otherwise whatsoever as by the Councill of the said William
       Burgis Learned in the Law Shall be reasonably Devised Advised and Required Provided
       that the Said Thomas Courtney or his heyres be not Obliged to Travaile further then the Citty
       of S.t Maryes for the Doeing Acknowledging makeing or Executing of the same In Wittness whereof
       the party first above named to these hath put To his hand & seale the Day & yeare above written

    the p.rsence of

                                                 On the Back of the Above Deed was written (viz.t)
