AN ACT to amend Chapter 29, title "Fair
Landlord—Tenant Relations," of the Montgomery County Code
1972, as amended, to repeal and re-enact, with
amendments. Section 29—12, title "Compensation and
expenses of members," of Article II, title "Commission on
Landlord—Tenant Affairs," to provide that alternate
members to the Commission on Landlord—Tenant Affairs be
compensated for their attendance at Commission meeting
regardless of whether or not they attend as a voting
member; to repeal and re—enact, with amendments. Section
29—54, title "Rent adjustments; one—family dwellings,
semi—detached dwellings, and town houses," of Article VI,
title "Rent Controls," to clarify the procedures for
obtaining a basic rent increase for one—family dwellings,
semi—detached dwellings, and town houses; and to repeal
and re—enact, with amendments. Section 29—57, title
"Continuing rent stabilization," of Article VI, title
"Rent Controls," to add a new subsection (f) to clarify
the procedures for increasing the rent for one—family
dwellings, semi—detached dwellings, and town houses after
the rent for such dwelling units has previously been
increased pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 29 of the
Montgomery County Code 1972, as amended, to provide for
an increase in rent of 2 percent of the rent to which the
dwelling unit was previously increased, and to provide
for an increase in rent in excess of 2 percent of the
rent to which the dwelling unit was previously increased.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL FOR MONTGOMERY
COUNTY, MARYLAND, that
Sec. 1. Section 29—12, title "Compensation and
expenses of members," of Article II, title "Commission on
Landlord—Tenant Affairs," of Chapter 29, title "Fair
Landlord—Tenant Relations," of the Montgomery County Code
1972, as amended, is hereby repealed and re—enacted with
amendments, to read as follows:
Sec. 29—12. Compensation and expenses of members.
Members and alternate members of the commission
shall be compensated at the rate of thirty—five dollars
per meeting attended per day, not to exceed three
thousand dollars per individual per annum, and shall be
reimbursed for all actual expenses necessarily incurred
in the performance of their duties in accordance with
