MONTGOMERY COUNTY

words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively
ascribed to them by this section:

Advisory Committee on Consumer Affairs. Shall be
hereinafter known as the "Committee" and shall consist of
nine members who shall be appointed as follows: three
members for three—year terms, three members for two—year
terms and three members for a one—year term. Thereafter,
each appointment for an unexpired term, shall be for a
three—year term, and each appointee shall hold office
until his successor is appointed and qualifies. All
members of the Committee, including its temporary
chairman, shall be designated by the County Executive
subject to confirmation by the County Council. The
members of the Committee shall serve without
compensation, but they may be reimbursed for all expenses
necessarily incurred in the performance of their duties.

Consumer. A purchaser, lessee, recipient or
prospective purchaser, lessee or recipient of real
estate, consumer goods or services or consumer credit,
including a co-obligor surety.

Consumer goods, services, credit and debts. Real
estate, goods, services, credit, debts and obligations
which are primarily for personal, household, family or
agricultural purposes.

Executive Director. A member of the County
Executive's staff or his designee appointed to serve in
this capacity.

Merchant. Any person who offers or makes available
to consumers, either directly or indirectly, real estate,
merchandise, goods, services or credit.

Person. An individual, proprietor, partnership,
corporation, firm, cooperative, association or any other
group of individuals, however organized.

Real Estate. Leaseholds and all other tangible
interests in residential real property, dwellings,
buildings or other structures situate on residential real
property, including condominium units.

Sec. 2. Subsection (d) of Section 11—2 of Chapter
11 title "Consumer Protection," of the Montgomery County
Code 1972, is hereby repealed and re—enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
