(J) SERVICE.

"SERVICE" MEANS ANY:

(1)   BUILDING REPAIR OR IMPROVEMENT SERVICE;

(2)   SUBPROFESSIONAL SERVICE;

(3)     REPAIR OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, HOME
APPLIANCE, OR OTHER SIMILAR COMMODITY; OF

(4)   REPAIR, INSTALLATION, OR OTHER SERVICING
OF ANY PLUMBING, HEATING, ELECTRICAL, OR MECHANICAL
DEVICE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears as
Art. 83, §20(c) .

In item (3), the term "hone appliance" is
substituted for "television sets" to conform
with the broader scope implicit by the
present, general reference to any "similar
commodities."

The only other changes are in style.

The Commission notes that Ch. 609, Acts of
1974, added to the Consumer Protection Act the
new term "consumer services," as defined in
subsection (d) of this section. The Commission
is uncertain as to whether or not the limited
definition of "service" in this subsection,
which predated Ch. 609, was actually intended
by the General Assembly to modify and,
consequently, limit the new term "consumer
service." A literal reading of present §20
would, of course, require this construction;
since any change in this regard would be
substantive in nature, the Commission has
retained these definitions basically as
enacted, with but changes in style.

(K) UNFAIR OR DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICE.

"UNFAIR OR DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICE" HAS THE MEANING
STATED IN SUBTITLE 3 OF THIS TITLE.
