16.200—16.210 of the Howard County Code; and
WHEREAS, Subsequent to the passage of Council Bill
No. 3 — 1969 Session, the Zoning Board has, without
exception, adopted all amendments to the Zoning
Regulations, in force and effect at the date of adoption
of Council Bill No. 3, and further that the County
Council has not considered any legislation in the area
which by Council Bill No. 3 — 1969 Session was delegated
to the Zoning Board of Howard County; and
WHEREAS, The County Council did by Council Bill No.
24—1970 Legislative Session legalize and adopt the 1970
edition of the Howard County Code which was published in
loose—leaf form, and the County Council did by Council
Bill No. 63 — 1972 Legislative Session legalize and adopt
the 1972 edition of the Howard County Code as printed in
bound volume form; and
WHEREAS, The County Council of Howard County has
introduced this Bill in order to correct the error made
by the editors of the 1970 and 1972 Codes by
inadvertently publishing said Section 16.202B into said
Code, even though the same had not been included as part
of Council Bill No. 3 — 1969 Session or had not been
included as a part of any bill passed by the County
Council for Howard County; and the County Council has
determined that the most appropriate method to correct
this error is by the enactment of this Council Bill.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Section 16.202 of the
Howard County Code, Title 16 "Planning, Zoning and
Subdivision Control," be and is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Section 16.202 - Purpose.
A. For the purpose of promoting the health,
safety, morals and general welfare of Howard County, the
Zoning Board is hereby empowered to regulate and restrict
the height, number of stories and size of buildings and
other structures; the percentage of lot area that may be
occupied; the size of yards, courts and other open
spaces; and the density of population and the location
and use of buildings, structures and land for trade,
industry residence or other purposes. C.B.I. 1969.
