capacity of the pump be less than 15 gallons a minute.
The discharge from the sump pump [must] SHALL be a
minimum of 1 1/4" and have a union in the discharge
piping to make the pump accessible for servicing.

d.   For separate dwellings, not serving continuous
flowing springs or ground water, the sump pump [may]
SHALL discharge onto a concrete splash block with a
minimum length of 24 inches. This discharge pipe
[should] SHALL be within 4 inches of the splash block and
positioned to direct the flow parallel to the recessed
line of the splash block.

e.   Sub-soil drains SUBJECT TO BACKFLOW WHEN
discharging into a storm drain shall be provided with a
back—water valve in the drain so located as to be
accessible for inspection and maintenance.

f.   Nothing in this regulation shall prevent the
discharge of drains serving sub—soil drains, or areaways
of a detached building, which do not serve continuous
flowing springs or ground water from discharging to a
properly graded open area, provided the point of
discharge is at least ten (10) feet from any property
line, where it is impracticable to discharge the drain or
drains to the street gutter or curb, a storm drain, an
approved water course, or to an alley.

13.1.6  Areaway Drains

All open subsurface space adjacent to a building
serving as an entrance to the basement or cellar of a
building must be provided with a drain or drains. Such
areaway drains shall be [of cast iron pipe] two (2)
inches minimum in diameter for areaway, not to exceed one
hundred (100) square feet in area, and shall be
discharged as provided for in this regulation pertaining
to sub—soil drains not serving continuous flowing springs
or ground water. No areaway drain can discharge into a
sub—soil drain. Areaway drains for areas exceeding one
hundred (100) square feet shall be sized according to
Table 13.6.2.

ABS OR PVC SCHEDULE 40 OR HEAVIER PLASTIC PIPE MAY BE
USED.

13.1.7  Window Well Drains

Window areaways not greater than ten (10) square
feet in area may discharge to the subsoil drains through
a two (2) inch [cash iron pipe] ABS OR PVC DWV SCHEDULE
40 OR HEAVIER PLASTIC PIPE MAY BE USED. However, in the
case of window areaways greater than ten (10) square feet
in area, such areaways [must] SHALL be handled in the
