Council incumbents in 1957, as having served its
transitional purpose and being of no further relevance,

d. Change the title "Councilmen" to "Council
Members."

Said Section 3 is hereby repealed and re—enacted to
read as follows:

52—3. Type of government.

All legislative powers of the town shall be
vested in a Council consisting of four Council
Members and a Mayor, all to be elected at large.
all Council Members shall be elected to hold office
for overlapping terms of two years, except in the
election of May 1974. In the election of May 1974,
the Council Members receiving the first and second
highest number of votes will hold office for terms
of two years. The Council Members receiving the
third and fourth highest number of votes will hold
office for terms of one year. Beginning in May
1975, and every year thereafter, two Council Members
will be elected to hold office for terms of two
years. Commencing with the election of May 1974 and
every three years thereafter, the Mayor shall be
elected to hold office for a term of three years.
The regular term of Council Members shall expire on
the second Monday following the election of their
successors.

Section 2. And be it further resolved that Section
4, "Qualifications of Councilmen," of said Charter be
amended to:

a.    Delete the real property taxpayer clause, as
being inconsistent with state law.

b.    Change the title of "Councilmen" to "Council
Members."

Said Section 4 is hereby repealed and re—enacted to
read as follows:

52—4. Qualifications of Council Members.

Any person shall be eligible for the office of
Council Member who shall have attained the age of
twenty—five years, who shall not have been convicted
of a felony or a misdemeanor involving moral
turpitude, and who shall be a qualified voter in
said town.
