4. The effective date of the Charter Amendment.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of
Laurel, be and he is specifically enjoined and instructed
to carry out the provisions of the above sections and as
evidence of compliance herewith, the said Mayor shall
cause to be affixed to the Minutes of this meeting:

1.     An appropriate certificate of publication of
the newspaper in which the title of this
Resolution shall have been published; and

2.     Return receipts of the mailing referred to in
the aforegoing Sections and shall further
complete and execute the Certificate of effect
attached hereto.

RESOLUTION NO. SECOND OF 1974

A RESOLUTION of the City of Laurel Adopted pursuant to
the provisions of Article 23A, Sections 11 through 18,
titled Corporations — Municipal, subtitled Charter
Amendments, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1973
Replacement Volume) to amend the Charter of the City of
Laurel, Section 8 entitled "Wards — Boundaries" by the
redesignation of the territory contained within each Ward
No. 1, Ward No. 2, Ward No. 3 and Ward No. 4.

THEREFORE: BE IT ENACTED AND ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND
CITY COUNCIL OF LAUREL, MARYLAND, that Section 8 of the
Charter of the City of Laurel, entitled "Wards —
Boundaries" be amended to read as follows:

Section 8. Boundaries.

The said Town of Laurel shall be, for election
purposes, divided into four wards as follows:

[Ward No. 1. The first ward shall embrace all
of the city lying northerly of the northerly limits
of the "Fairlawn" District of Laurel, and westerly
of a line drawn from the point at which the westerly
line of Fourth Street intersects the northerly
limits of said "Fairlawn" District, and running
northerly along the westerly line of Fourth Street
to the northerly line of Gorman Avenue thence
westerly along the northerly line of Gorman Avenue
to the westerly line of Eighth Street and thence
running northerly along the westerly line of Eighth
