APPOINT ONE OF ITS MEMBERS AS CHAIRMAN. VACANCIES ON THE
BOARD SHALL BE FILLED BY THE MAYOR WITH THE APPROVAL OF
THE COUNCIL FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE UNEXPIRED TERM. THE
COMPENSATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD SHALL BE
DETERMINED BY THE COUNCIL EXCEPT THAT THE CLERK-TREASURER
SHALL SERVE WITHOUT ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION. THE BOARD
SHALL CONSIST OF THREE MEMBERS INCLUDING THE TOWN
CLERK-TREASURER. THE TWO OUTSIDE MEMBERS SHALL BE
APPOINTED BY THE MAYOR WITH APPROVAL OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
ON OR BEFORE THE FOURTH THURSDAY IN MAY. THE TERM OF
EACH MEMBER SO APPOINTED SHALL BE FOR FOUR YEARS OR UNTIL
HIS SUCCESSOR QUALIFIES AND TAKES OFFICE, EXCEPT,
HOWEVER, THAT THE TERMS OF EITHER OF THE TWO MEMBERS
FIRST APPOINTED MAY BE FOR LESS THAN FOUR YEARS TO
PROVIDE FOR STAGGERED TERMS. THE LENGTH OF THE TERMS OF
MEMBERS SHALL BE DESIGNATED BY THE MAYOR AT THE TIME OF
APPOINTMENT. THE TERM OF THE CLERK-TREASURER, WHO SHALL
ALWAYS SERVE AS SECRETARY OF THE BOARD, SHALL CORRESPOND
TO THE OFFICIAL TERM AS CLERK-TREASURER. ANY ACTING
CLERK-TREASURER MAY ALSO BE APPOINTED AS AN ACTING MEMBER
OF THE BOARD TO SERVE AS SECRETARY.

Existing Section 25 is repealed in its entirety and
a new Section 25 as quoted below is to be substituted
therefor.

2 5. BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ELECTIONS - REMOVAL OF
MEMBERS.

ANY MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ELECTIONS,
EXCEPT FOR THE CLERK-TREASURER, MAY BE REMOVED FOR GOOD
CAUSE BY THE COUNCIL, IF IN THE JUDGMENT OF THE COUNCIL
THE MEMBER IS NOT PROPERLY PERFORMING OR WILL NOT
PROPERLY PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE POSITION. BEFORE
REMOVAL, THE MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF
ELECTIONS TO BE REMOVED SHALL BE GIVEN A WRITTEN COPY OF
THE CHARGES AGAINST HIM AND SHALL BE GIVEN A PUBLIC
HEARING ON THEM BEFORE THE COUNCIL IF HE SO REQUESTS
WITHIN TEN DAYS AFTER RECEIVING THE WRITTEN COPY OF THE
CHARGES.

Existing Section 26 is repealed in its entirety and
a new Section 26 as quoted below is to be substituted
therefor.

26. BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ELECTIONS - DUTIES.

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ELECTIONS SHALL BE IN
CHARGE OF THE REGISTRATION OF VOTERS, NOMINATIONS, AND
ALL TOWN ELECTIONS. THE CLERK-TREASURER SHALL SERVE AS
SECRETARY OF THE BOARD, AND COUNCIL MAY APPOINT OTHER
EMPLOYEES TO ASSIST HIM IN HIS DUTIES.

Existing Section 27 is repealed in its entirety and
