Adopted this 11th day of June, 1974, by the
Commissioners of the Town of Charlestown, by a vote of 4
votes "for" and 0 votes "against" this Resolution.

CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 3-74
"Penalty for Violation of Ordinances"
Resolution of The Commissioners of Charlestown,
Maryland, adopted pursuant to the authority of Article
11—E of the Constitution of the State of Maryland, and
Section 13 of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (19 57 edition, as amended) entitled
"Corporations—Municipal", to amend the Charter of
Charlestown, this amendment to be entitled "Penalty for
Violations of Ordinances", providing for the enactment by
ordinance of penalties for the violation of the
Ordinances and Resolutions of the Commissioners.
Section 1. Be it resolved by the Commissioners of
the Town of Charlestown that Section 25—13, "Ordinances
authorized; penalties", of the Charter of the Town of
Charlestown be repealed and reenacted as follows:
"Sec. 25—13 — Ordinances authorized; penalties
"The commissioners may pass all by—laws and
ordinances to give effect to the powers vested in them by
this charter or otherwise vested in them by law. The
Commissioners shall also have the power to designate by
ordinance those violations of ordinances and resolutions
which are punishable as a misdemeanor and establish
penalties for violations thereof to the maximum extent
allowable by law."
Section 2. And be it further resolved that Section
25—16, "Penalties for violations of ordinances", be
repealed and reserved, said Section 25—16 henceforth to
read as follows:
