MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

charter, changing all references of "Commission" to the
"Council" and "President of the Commission" to "Mayor."

4.      To repeal the durational and property
requirements of candidates for Town Council.

5.    To allow the taxing and licensing of dogs by
the Town.

6.     To exclude from the Town's police powers any
mention of tramps, vagabonds, drunkeness and public
profanity.

7.    To repeal durational and property requirements
for voters.

8.     To lower the voting age from twenty—one to
eighteen.

9.    To change the terms of members of the Board of
Supervisors of Elections from two to four years and to
change the month for the beginning of said Board members'
terms from April to March.

10.    To change the registration day from the first
Saturday in May to the first Saturdays of April and
September.

11.    To change the election day from the last
Saturday in May to the first Saturday in October.

12.   To raise the maximum worth of goods ordered by
the Town without written contract and without competitive
bidding from $1,000.00 to $3,000.00.

13.   To delete the term "trial magistrate" from the
Charter and, where appropriate, to substitute the term
"District Court" as the appropriate body for hearing
cases of misdemeanors as authorized by the Town Charter.

14.    To change the amount of interest charged by
the Town of delinquent property taxes from one—half of
one percentum (0.5%) to the maximum amount allowed by
State law.

15.   Deleting the requirement of an ordinance for
setting Town employees' salaries.

16.    To make it the duty of the Town Council to
make and advertise purchases and contracts for the Town
rather than the duty of the Clerk—Treasurer.

17.     To grant discretion to the Board of
Supervisors of Elections to shorten the hours required to
