(e) Each Commission shall distribute
informational and educational materials
concerning judicial vacancies and the
functions of the Commission, in order to
inform the public of the Judicial
selection process of the State.
7. Appointment From List
The Governor shall fill a judicial vacancy by
selecting a person from the list submitted by
the appropriate Commission.
8. Definitions
As used in this Executive Order:
(a) "Appellate Court" means the Court of
Appeals of Maryland and the Court of
Special Appeals of Maryland;
(b) "Trial Court" means the District Court
of Maryland, the Circuit Court of a
County, and a court of the Supreme Bench
of Baltimore.
9. Effective Date
Paragraph 1 of this Order is effective
immediately. The rest of the Order is
effective March 1, 1975.
EXECUTIVE ORDER OF APRIL 1, 1975
PRE-TRIAL CUSTODY
WHEREAS, Chapter 735 of the Acts of 1974, (Codified as
Article 27, Section 638C of the Annotated Code of
Maryland) requires judges of the courts of Maryland
who sentence persons to penal institutions on or
after July 1, 1974, to award credit against the
sentence for any time such persons spent in
pre—trial custody as a result of the charge for
which sentence was imposed, or as a result of the
conduct on which the charge was based, irrespective
of the length of the sentence imposed; and
