House Bill No. 1166 — Workmen's Compensation for
Volunteer Firemen

AN ACT concerning

[[Volunteer Firemen — Benefits]] Workmen's Compensation —

Volunteer Firemen

FOR the purpose of extending certain Workmen's
Compensation benefits to volunteer firemen and
rescue squad members for impairment of health caused
by lung diseases, heart diseases, or hypertension
suffered in the line of duty; clarifying language;
and adding lettering as appropriate.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill
1166.

This bill extends certain Workmen's Compensation
benefits to volunteer firemen and rescue squad members
for impairment of health caused by certain diseases.

Senate Bill 525, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 15, 1975, accomplishes
the same purpose as House Bill 1166.

Therefore, it is unnecessary for me to sign House
Bill 1166.
