VETOES

May 15, 1975.
Honorable John Hanson Briscoe
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill
504.

This bill permits the People's Counsel of the Public
Service Commission to participate in certain proceedings
before certain Federal agencies.

Senate Bill 345, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on April 22, 1975, accomplishes
the same purpose as House Bill 504.

Therefore, it is unnecessary for me to sign House
Bill 504.

Sincerely,

/s/ Marvin Mandel

Governor

House Bill No. 535 — Off—duty Sheriffs Wearing

Handguns

AN ACT concerning

Handguns

FOR the purpose of permitting sheriffs and certain other
officers to wear, carry, or transport handguns when
they are not on active assignment[[; permitting any
constable, sheriff, or other officer or agent of a
court engaged in the serving or other handling of
civil process or other civil business of the court
to wear, carry, or transport a handgun]] if they
meet certain requirements; and clarifying the
language.

May 15, 1975.
Honorable John Hanson Briscoe
Speaker of the House of Delegates
