Senate Bill No. 597 - Salaries of State Police
Truck Patrolmen
AN ACT concerning
State Police — Salaries
FOR the purpose of providing that truck patrolmen shall
be compensated at a certain pay grade.
May 15, 1975.
Honorable Steny H. Hoyer
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland
Dear Mr. President:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill
597.
This bill provides that Truck Patrolmen, employed in
the Truck Weight Enforcement Division of the Maryland
State Police, who are now compensated at grade 9, would
henceforth be compensated at grade 11.
I have been advised by the Department of Budget and
Fiscal Planning that there are currently 15 Truck
Patrolmen, all at step 6 of grade 9 ($10,965) who would
be affected. This bill would place these Truck Patrolmen
at step 4 of grade 11 ($12,238), which would be an
increased cost of $28,020 in salaries alone and including
fringe benefits, would increase this cost to $31,850.
Since this is a Special Fund Program, funded through the
Department of Transportation, that Department will have
to make these funds available.
