MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                       3939

handling of civil process or other civil business of
the court provided]] wearing, carrying, or
transporting a handgun under certain circumstances
if the sheriff or deputy has met certain firearms
handling requirements and clarifying language.

May 15, 1975.
Honorable Steny H. Hoyer
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill
202.

This bill is intended to permit sheriffs and
full—time deputy sheriffs to wear handguns when they are
not on active assignment, if they have completed the
minimum firearms handling requirements of the police
training commission.

With one small exception, this bill is the same as
House Bill 535 which I have today vetoed. For the same
reasons given in the veto message on House Bill 535, I
have decided to veto Senate Bill 202.

Sincerely,

/s/ Marvin Mandel

Governor

Senate Bill No. 211 — Titling Tax Exemption for Motor

Vehicles

AN ACT concerning

Title Excise Tax — Exemptions

FOR the purpose of exempting certain motor vehicles from
the title excise tax; establishing requirements for
exempting certain motor vehicles from that tax;
repealing certain current law relating to that tax
and re—writing it for the purpose of clarifying
language; and relating generally to title excise tax
exemptions for certain motor vehicles.
