JOINT RESOLUTIONS
A Senate Joint Resolution concerning
Federal Fire Academy at Fort Meade
FOR the purpose of requesting the Federal Government to
place the newly established Federal Fire Academy at
Fort Meade, Maryland.
The Federal Government has enacted recently
legislation to establish a Fire Academy for training and
educating firefighters from all the States. This needed
Academy will provide the brave men and women who protect
us from the ravages of fire the training and the new
techniques' that are needed to save lives.
The Federal Government currently has excess land at
Fort Meade, Maryland, that could be used for this
Academy. This site would be advantageous because it is
located centrally near the Nation's Capital, near
transportation facilities and in a State that will
cooperate with the Academy in order to insure its
success; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the Federal Government be requested to place the Federal
Fire Academy at Fort Meade, Maryland; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to
the Governor and the Maryland Congressional Delegation:
J. Glenn Beall, Jr., Charles McC. Mathias, Jr., Gilbert
Gude, Parren J. Mitchell, Goodloe E. Byron, Paul
Sarbanes, Clarence Long, Marjorie S. Holt, Robert E.
Bauman, and Gladys N. Spellman, Longworth House Office
Building, Washington, D.C. 20515.
