AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws — Penalties

FOR the purpose of providing certain penalties for
persons convicted a certain number of times of
driving without a license.

BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments,

Article 661/2 — Vehicle Laws

Section 17-101 (b) [[(i)]] (iii)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1970 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 17-101 (b) [[(i)]] (iii) of
Article 661/2 — Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement) be
and it is hereby repealed and re—enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws

17-101.

(b) Every person convicted of a misdemeanor for the
violations of any provision of this Article shall be
punished by a fine of not more than $500, except that:

[[(i) Every person who is convicted of a
violation of § 6-101, § 6-303, § 11—904, or of subsection

(a)    of § 11—902 shall be punished by imprisonment for not
more than one year or by fine of not more than $1,000 or
both fine and imprisonment.]]

(iii) Every person who is convicted of a second or
subsequent violation OF SECTION 6—101 OR of subsection

(b)    of Section 11—902 may be punished by imprisonment for
not more than one year, and in the discretion of the
court, a fine of not more than $500.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1975.
