OUT-OF-STATE MUNICIPAL SERVICE UP TO A MAXIMUM OF TEN
YEARS IF THE MEMBER FILES CLAIM FOR IT WITH THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES AND PAYS INTO THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM AN AMOUNT
EQUAL TO THE RESERVES REQUIRED TO FUND THE ADDITIONAL
ALLOWANCE FOR THOSE YEARS OF FEDERAL, OUT-OF-STATE
MUNICIPAL SERVICE, OR A COMBINATION OF BOTH, AS HE MAY

CLAIM. THE MEMBER MAY PAY FOR THE RESERVES ON__AN

INSTALLMENT BASIS BY CONTRIBUTING NOT LESS THAN 5 PERCENT
A YEAR. THE APPROPRIATE FINAL ADJUSTMENTS SHALL BE MADE
IN THE YEAR IN WHICH THE MEMBER RETIRES.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section
9(1) of Article 73B — Pensions, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement) be
and it is hereby repealed and re—enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

(1) Under such rales and regulations as the board
of trustees shall adopt, each member who was an employee
at any time during the year immediately preceding the
date of establishment and who becomes a member [during
the first year] after the date of establishment, shall
file a detailed statement of all service as an employee
rendered by him prior to the date of establishment for
which he claims credit. Each member who is an
unclassified hourly employee of the State Roads
Commission, or who is an employee by virtue of employment
on a county road system, or who had maintained membership
in a municipality presently participating in the system,
as hereinbefore provided, on June 1, 1943, and who
becomes a member during the first year thereafter, shall
file a detailed statement of all services [[an as]] as an
employee rendered by him prior to June 1, 1943, for which
he claims credit.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Section 194(9), be and it is hereby added to Article 77 -
Public Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969
Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement) to read as
follows:

(9)         A MEMBER MAY RECEIVE IN THE YEAR IN WHICH HE

RETIRES CREDIT TOWARDS ELIGIBILITY FOR BENEFITS PROVIDED

UNDER SECTION 195 OF THIS ARTICLE FOR FEDERAL OR

OUT-OF-STATE MUNICIPAL SERVICE UP TO A MAXIMUM OF TEN
YEARS IF THE MEMBER FILES CLAIM FOR IT WITH THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES AND PAYS INTO THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM AN AMOUNT
