AN ACT concerning

Joint Budget and Audit Committee

FOR the purpose of increasing and alloting the membership
of the Joint Budget and Audit Committee between the
two Houses of the General Assembly; [[and

and vice—chairman of the committee;]] and making
this Act an emergency measure.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 55 of Article 40 - General
Assembly, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971
Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 40 — General Assembly

55.

(a) There shall be [[eighteen]] TWENTY members of
the committee [, nine of whom are members of the Senate
finance committee, and nine of whom are members of the
House ways and means committee or of the House
appropriations committee]. THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
AND THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES AND THE
MAJORITY FLOOR LEADERS AND MINORITY FLOOR LEADERS OF BOTH
HOUSES ARE MEMBERS. THE REMAINING MEMBERSHIP [[IS]]
SHALL BE DIVIDED EQUALLY BETWEEN MEMBERS OF THE TWO
HOUSES[[. THE SENATE MEMBERS AND THE HOUSE MEMBERS ARE]]
WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE RESPECTIVE FISCAL COMMITTEES [[OF
