Section 4A-1(d), 4A-6(g), and 4D-1

(1971 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 4A-2(d), 4A-3, 26-4(a), 26-8,
26-11(a) and 26-16 (a) (7) of Article 33 - Election Code,
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement
Volume and 1974 Supplement) be and they are hereby
repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

Article 33 — Election Code

4A-2.

(d) All persons EXCEPT WRITE-IN CANDIDATES, shall
file their certificates of candidacy in person within the
time specified by § 4A-3 of this article and at the place
specified in this section. In the event that any person
visiting to file a certificate of candidacy is unable to
do so in person by reason of illness, military service or
temporary absence from the State of Maryland, such person
shall file an affidavit setting out fully such facts as
prevent him from personally filing his certificate of
candidacy and such affidavit must be filed with the
certificate of candidacy.

4A-3.

Except FOR CERTIFICATES OF CANDIDACY FILED BY
WRITE-IN CANDIDATES AND as otherwise provided herein,
certificates of candidacy shall be received and filed in
the office of the appropriate board not later than nine
