created in 1970, one shall be appointed for a term
commencing on July 1, 1970, and which will expire May 31,
1972, and the other shall be appointed for a term
commencing on July 1, 1970, and which will expire on May
31, 1974. Their successors shall be appointed for terms
of four (4) years.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Sections
258(b), 266M(d), 266EE-5(a) and 405(e) of Article 41 -
Governor—Executive and Administrative Departments, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and
1974 Supplement) be and they are hereby repealed and
re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

(b) To advise and assist in carrying out fully and
effectively all the provisions of this subheading, the
advisory powers and duties of the Division of Economic
Development shall vest in and be exercised by a Maryland
Economic Development Advisory Commission, to consist of
twelve members who shall be appointed by the Secretary of
Economic and Community Development, with the approval of
the Governor.
The members shall represent a cross section of the
economic and geographic composition of the State, and
shall be selected because of their known experience and
interest in the development of natural resources and
industrial opportunities from the following areas of the
State:
Two members from counties comprising the Eastern
Shore; two members from the counties comprising southern
Maryland; two members from the counties comprising
central Maryland; two members from the counties
comprising western Maryland; two members from Baltimore
City; and two members appointed from the State at large.
The commissioners shall serve without compensation
for their duties, but shall be reimbursed for necessary
travel and other expenses incurred in the performance of
their duties IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARD TRAVEL
REGULATIONS. The terms of the commissioners shall be six
years, or until their successors are appointed and
qualified. Commissioners shall be eligible for
reappointment. Upon the death, disability, resignation,
or removal of any commissioner, the Secretary of Economic
and Community Development, with the approval of the
Governor, shall appoint a person to serve for the
