Sections 123(c) and 130(a), (c), (f), (g), (h),
(i) and (j)
Article 9 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1969 Edition and 1972 Supplement, as
amended by Chapter 27 of the Acts of 1974)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 123(c) and 130(a), (c) , (f) , (g),
(h), (i) and (j) of the Public Local Laws of Charles
County being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1969 Edition and 1972 Supplement, as amended
by Chapter 27 of the Acts of 1974) be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
Article 9
123.
(c) The proceeds collected from the County fire
tax shall thereafter be paid by the County Commissioners
on September 30 and June 30 of each year, beginning on
September 30, 1974, to all the fire departments in
Charles County. The proceeds shall be distributed as
directed by the Board of Fire and Rescue Commissioners,
which is hereby created and which shall be composed of
six members, one of whom shall be a County Commissioner
of Charles County, one of whom shall be [appointed]
ELECTED by the Charles County Volunteer Firemen's
Association, one of whom shall be [appointed] ELECTED by
the Charles County [Volunteer Rescue Squad] Association
OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES, and three of whom shall be
appointed by the Governor. The GUBERNATORIAL members of
the [board] BOARD OF FIRE AND RESCUE COMMISSIONERS shall
serve without compensation for terms of four years each,
AND THE REMAINING MEMBERS SHALL SERVE WITHOUT
COMPENSATION FOR ONE YEAR TERMS, with vacancies to be
filled in the same manner as the original membership was
filled. [Further, the initial term of the member
appointed by the Charles County Rescue Squad Association
shall be for two years.]
130.
(a) The County Commissioners of Charles County are
hereby authorized and directed to levy for the fiscal
year, beginning July 1, 1969, and annually thereafter a
rescue tax at the PER CAPITA rate necessary to produce a
sum adequate to support the various volunteer rescue
squads in Charles County[. Such a tax shall produce a
