($3,500.00) from each licensee. In addition each
licensee shall allocate a sum equal to 1/2% of the
REGULAR AND MULTIPLE mutuel pool in all races conducted
by it during the year to the Maryland Standardbred Race
Fund as provided by § 17A of this article.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public
health and safety and having been passed by a yea and nay
vote supported by three—fifths of all the members elected
to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT concerning
Medical Malpractice — Mutual Liability
Insurance Company
FOR the purpose of creating a mutual liability insurance
company to provide payment to injured parties for
medical malpractice claims resulting from the
rendering of or failure to render professional
services by physicians or authorized persons;
authorizing a tax on physicians to create the mutual
liability insurance company and means to collect the
tax; providing for the duties and powers of certain
officials and offices; [granting certain tax
exemptions]]providing that the company is a member
of the Joint Insurance Association; and providing
for an additional charge on the policyholders to be
placed in a special reserve fund[[; and enacting
this Act as emergency legislation]].
BY adding to
Article 48A — Insurance Code
Section 547 through [[554]] [[556]] 555 to be under
the new subtitle
"36. Medical Mutual Liability Insurance Society of
Maryland"
