Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments
460A.

(A)    [[ALL RAILROADS OPERATING IN OR THROUGH
MARYLAND SHALL PROVIDE A SEAT WITH A BACK AND AN ARM REST
FOR ALL EMPLOYEES WHO ARE REQUIRED OR ORDERED TO WORK OR
BE TRANSPORTED TO WORK ON A CABOOSE OR ON A LOCOMOTIVE]]
RAILROADS IN MARYLAND SHALL PROVIDE A FIXED SEAT WITH A
BACK SUPPORT FOR ALL EMPLOYEES WHO ARE TRANSPORTED TO OR
FROM WORK, ON A CABOOSE OR LOCOMOTIVE.

(B)    ANY AGENT OF A RAILROAD, WHO REQUIRES OR
ORDERS A RAILROAD WORKER OR RAILROAD EMPLOYEE, WHETHER IN
ACTIVE SERVICE OR NOT, TO RIDE A GREATER DISTANCE THAN
FIVE MILES ON A CABOOSE OR LOCOMOTIVE THAT IS NOT
EQUIPPED WITH SUCH SEATS FOR ALL OCCUPANTS SHALL BE FINED
$100 FOR EACH PERSON WHO IS REQUIRED TO RIDE WITHOUT A
SEAT AS PROVIDED HEREIN.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect [[July 1, 1975]] January 1, 1976.
