CORRECTIONAL SERVICES MAY SERVE PERSONALLY AT ANY OR ALL
COMMISSION MEETINGS OR MAY DESIGNATE A MEMBER OF HIS
RESPECTIVE ASSOCIATION, OFFICE, DEPARTMENT, UNIVERSITY OR
COLLEGE. BUREAU OR AGENCY TO REPRESENT AND ACT FOR HIM AT
THE MEETINGS AS IF HE WERE PERSONALLY PRESENT.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1975.

AN ACT concerning

Infants — Test for Phenylketonuria

FOR the purpose of repealing the requirement that a
newborn child be tested for phenylketonuria.

Article 43 - Health

Section 38A

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1971 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 38A of Article 43 - Health, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and
1974 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed:

Article 43 - Health

[38A.

When a birth occurs in an institution the person in
charge of the institution or his designated
representative, or in the event that a birth occurs
outside an institution, the person required to prepare
and file the certificate of birth pursuant to § 7 of this
article, shall cause to have administered to every such
newborn child a test for phenylketonuria in accordance
with rules and regulations prescribed by the State Board
of Health and Rental Hygiene. In the event the newborn
infant leaves or is discharged from the institution and
