AN ACT concerning
Charles County — Tax Payment Discounts
and Penalties
FOR the purpose of allowing the Charles County
Commissioners discretion in setting the discount
[[note]] rate for early payment of county taxes; and
discretion in setting the penalty rate for late
payment of county taxes; and clarifying language.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 88(e) of the Public Local Laws of
Charles County being Article 9 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1969 Edition and 1972 Supplement)
be and it is hereby repealed and re—enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
Article 9
88.
(e) The [said] treasurer shall immediately after
the making of the levy, in each year after April 11,
1910, publish for two successive weeks in not more than
three newspapers a short notice informing the public
generally, that if taxes are paid on or before the first
day of September next succeeding the date of [such] THE
notice there will be allowed a deduction [of three per
centum] from the [amount of said] taxes OF AN AMOUNT TO
BE DETERMINED BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS NOT TO EXCEED
THREE PERCENT OF THE TAXES; and that on all taxes not
paid on or before the 1st day of September in each year,
interest at [the] A rate [of one per centum (1%)] TO BE
DETERMINED BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS NOT TO EXCEED ONE
