CHILDREN'S PROGRAM AWARDS

457.

(A)      THE MARYLAND [[EMMY]] CHILDREN'S PROGRAM
AWARDS COMMITTEE IS CREATED AND CONSISTS OF FIVE MEMBERS
APPOINTED ANNUALLY BY THE GOVERNOR. THE MEMBERS SHALL BE
PEOPLE CONCERNED WITH THE UPBRINGING AND EDUCATION OF
CHILDREN.

(B)     MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE SERVE WITHOUT
COMPENSATION BUT SHALL BE REIMBURSED FOR NECESSARY TRAVEL
AND OTHER EXPENSES INCURRED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR
DUTIES,

(C)    THE COMMITTEE SHALL MEET ANNUALLY TO DETERMINE
THE RECIPIENTS OF THE AWARD ACCORDING TO THE CRITERIA SET
FORTH BELOW.

(A)    MARYLAND [[EMMY]] CHILDREN'S PROGRAM AWARDS
SHALL BE MADE BY THE STATE OF MARYLAND TO TELEVISION
STATIONS AND PROGRAM PRODUCERS WHICH AND WHO ARE
DETERMINED TO HAVE THE HOST CONSTRUCTIVE INFLUENCE ON
YOUTH. TO BE ELIGIBLE, A STATION MUST BE LOCATED IN
MARYLAND OR SERVE THE MARYLAND AREA FROM THE DISTRICT OF
COLUMBIA. A PROGRAM TO BE ELIGIBLE MUST HAVE BEEN
PRODUCED IN MARYLAND OR DIRECTED TO THE MARYLAND
AUDIENCE. AWARDS SHALL BE GIVEN IN THE FOLLOWING
CATEGORIES:

(1)     THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PROGRAM HAVING A
CONSTRUCTIVE EFFECT ON YOUTH;

(2)    THE MOST INFLUENTIAL SERIES HAVING A
CONSTRUCTIVE EFFECT ON YOUTH;

(3)     THE STATION WHICH PLACES THE GREATEST
EMPHASIS ON CONSTRUCTIVE PROGRAMMING FOR YOUTH[[.]];

(4)    THE STATION WHICH SHOWS THE LEAST AMOUNT
OF VIOLENCE;

(5)     THE STATION WHICH MOST ENCOURAGES
RESPONSIBLE PARENTHOOD.

(B)    THE CATEGORIES LISTED IN SUBSECTION (A) SHALL
BE AWARDED IN EACH OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

(1) PROGRAMS DESIGNED FOR CHILDREN UP TO 12
