BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments,
Article — Courts and Judicial Proceedings
Section 2-309(v)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 2-309(v) of Article - Courts and
Judicial Proceedings, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1974 Volume and 1974 Supplement) be and it is hereby
repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

2-30 9.
(v) The Sheriff of Talbot County shall receive a
salary [of $10,000 and he may receive no other
compensation, directly or indirectly, from the county or
any other political subdivision] AS SET BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL. He may appoint, subject to the approval of the
County [Commissioners] COUNCIL, the number of deputies he
deems necessary at the compensation fixed by the County
[Commissioners] COUNCIL prior to the appointment. The
Sheriff's office shall be operated on a 24—hour daily
basis.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
provisions of this Act shall not be construed to extend
or apply to the salary of the Sheriff of Talbot County in
office on the effective date of this Act, but the
provisions of this Act concerning the salary of the
Sheriff of Talbot County shall take effect at the
beginning of the next following term of office.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1975.
