does not open an office or have a regularly appointed
place to meet patients within this State and further
provided that the same privileges are extended to
physicians from this State by the neighboring
jurisdiction.
(5) Cardiac rescue technicians [defined as
paramedics] while delivering emergency health care
services [under a cardiac rescue technician program] OR
WHILE UNDERGOING TRAINING ARE PERMITTED TO CARRY OUT ALL
PHASES OF CARDIO-PULMONARY RESUSCITATION, TO ADMINISTER
DRUGS OR INTRAVENOUS SOLUTIONS AS DIRECTED BY A LICENSED
PHYSICIAN VIA RADIO, TELEMETRY, WRITTEN OR ORAL
INSTRUCTION, AND TO OBTAIN BLOOD FOR LABORATORY ANALYSIS,
[and who:] IF THEY
(i) Have successfully completed an
advanced cardiac rescue technician course [ , the
standards of which are set by the Board and Commission;]
OR ITS EQUIVALENT AS DETERMINED BY THE DIRECTOR OF
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AND HAVE BEEN EXAMINED AND
HOLD CERTIFICATION AS CARDIAC RESCUE TECHNICIANS BY THE
BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS OR
(ii) Are [trained by licensed
physicians and a registered nurse to carry out all phases
of cardio—pulmonary resuscitation, to administer drugs
via radio, telemetry, written, or oral authorization of
licensed physicians, and to administer intravenous
solutions under written or oral authorization of licensed
physicians; and
(iii) Have been examined and certified
as cardiac rescue technicians by the Board and will be
recertified annually by same.] ENROLLED IN A CARDIAC
RESCUE TECHNICIAN PROGRAM, THE STANDARDS OF WHICH ARE SET
BY THE BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS.
(6) An individual to whom duties are
delegated by a licensed physician, including, but not
limited to, any individual registered, certified or
licensed to practice any other health profession defined
by law, in accordance with regulations to be promulgated
by the Board.
(7) An individual performing acupuncture
under the supervision of a licensed physician.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section
2 of Chapter 478 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
1972 be and it is hereby repealed.
