AN ACT concerning
Talbot County - State's Attorney
FOR the purpose of providing that the salary of the
Talbot County State's Attorney and assistant State's
attorney shall be as set by the County Council,
correcting obsolete language, generally relating to
office space, removing a provision prohibiting the
State's Attorney and assistant State's attorney from
representing certain persons under certain
circumstances, and specifying that the salary
increase provided for by this Act does not affect
the incumbent State's Attorney.
BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments,
Article 10 — Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact
Section 40(u)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 40(u) of Article 10 - Attorneys at
Law and Attorneys in Fact, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement) be
and it is hereby repealed and re—enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
Article 10 — Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact
40.
(u) In Talbot County, (1) the State's Attorney's
salary [is six thousand five hundred dollars ($6,500.00)
during the term of the State's Attorney elected to that
position in the month of November 1966. At the
beginning of the term of the State's Attorney who is
elected to that position in the month of November 1970
and thereafter, the State's Attorney's salary is eleven
thousand five hundred dollars ($11,500.00).] SHALL BE AS
SET BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL.
(2) The State's Attorney may appoint an assistant
State's attorney and his salary shall be [six thousand
dollars ($6,000.00) per year.] AS SET BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL. The County [Commissioners of Talbot County]
COUNCIL shall provide an office in the courthouse or
other accessible public building [of sufficient size to
