26.
(a) The County Commissioners of Charles County
shall receive an annual compensation of [$5,000] $10,000
each for their services as [such] Commissioners. [Said]
THE Commissioners shall be in their offices for the
transaction of business on Tuesday and Wednesday of each
week, excluding legal holidays.
(b) The County Commissioners shall receive no
mileage for attending regular meetings on Tuesday and
Wednesday of any week, but shall be reimbursed for
mileage, tolls and parking expenses incurred in travel to
other meetings in connection with their duties as County
Commissioners. Reimbursement shall be made upon the
submission of vouchers for [such] THE expenses monthly
and after the approval of the vouchers by the three
County Commissioners.
27.
The County Commissioners are hereby authorized in
their discretion to appoint one member of the County
Commissioners as chairman of the Commissioners, who shall
be a full—time Commissioner and who shall receive in
addition to the compensation provided for by law, the
additional sum of [$5,000] $8,000 annually.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section
339(b) of the Public Local Laws of Charles County, being
Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1969 Edition and 1972 Supplement) be and it is hereby
repealed;

(b) [Each County Commissioner, after assuming the
additional duties as Road Commissioner shall receive an
extra compensation for such duties the sum of $600 per
annum, payable, quarterly and said County Commissioners
shall annually levy a sum sufficient to pay such
additional compensation. The Board of Road Commissioners
also shall be paid the sum of $500 annually for the
expenses of the Board. ]
SECTION [[2]] 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That
the provisions of this Act shall not be construed to
extend or apply to the salary of the County Commissioners
of Charles County in office on the effective date of this
Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary
of the County Commissioners of Charles County shall take
