annual levy and paid as other expenses and salaries are
paid for the conduct of business of the Circuit Court.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
provisions of this Act shall not be construed to extend
or apply to the salary of the Charles County State's
Attorney in office on the affective date of this Act, but
the provisions of this Act concerning the salary of the
Charles County State's Attorney shall take effect at the
beginning of the text following term of office.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1974.

AN ACT concerning
Crimes and Punishments — Employment of Prisoners
FOR the purpose of allowing the judge ordering
confinement, or in the event he is unable to act,
then any other judge of the committing court to
prescribe that the person may participate in "work
release" and "pre-release" programs; authorizing the
court to review the offender's performance on the
program and modify the original sentence; providing
an accurate description of the progressive work,
release and pre—release program; clarifying the
collection and disposition of prisoners' funds;
requiring the Montgomery County Department of
Correction and Rehabilitation to provide services to
certain individuals; and generally relating to the
employment of prisoners in Montgomery County.
BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments,
Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments
