COUNTY LOCAL LAWS

Effective July 1, 1972 and thereafter, any volunteer
who has completed twenty—five (25) years of certified
active service within the Montgomery County Fire/Rescue
Service upon reaching age 62 shall receive a payment of
$100 per month for life. Payments will begin on the
first day of the first month following eligibility.

(c)    Funding.

Each department will annually submit with its budget
a request for funds to pay those volunteer members who
are eligible, or will become eligible, for the program.
The request shall identify by name each member to receive
payment and specify the number of months for which
payment will be made to that individual during the fiscal
year, if for less than a full year.

Departments which do not receive tax monies shall
have their awards programs funded from the general fund.

Funding of this program shall be reviewed not later
than the fifth year of operation to determine if any
changes should be made in the method of funding.

(d)    Administration.

The program shall be administered by the Department
of Fire and Rescue Services in accordance with standards
and procedures established by the personnel committee and
approved by Montgomery County Fire Board.

Payments shall not be made until department payment
lists have been approved by the executive committee of
the Montgomery County Fire Board. The executive
committee shall have the authority to audit records of
volunteer participation in addition to any other audits
required by law.

(e)    Certification Procedure.

It shall be the responsibility of each participating
department to maintain a detailed and accurate record for
each volunteer member in accordance with the following:

(1)    All records required shall be maintained on
forms prescribed by the personnel committee of
the Montgomery County Fire Board.

(2)    Beginning in January, 1973, the secretary of
each department shall furnish to the personnel
