HOWARD COUNTY

(86)   Community Service Officer

Same entrance standard as Patrolman except the
entrance age may be eighteen (18) . Must satisfactorily
complete a designated training course.

(87)   Patrolman

Graduation from a recognized high school or
General Equivalence Test. Minimum age twenty-one (21)
years, and possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operating
License..

(88)   Patrolman First Class

Must have two (2) years of police experience
in the County, State or Federal Government level.

(89)   Corporal

Must have three (3) years of police experience
in County, State or Federal Government level, one (1)
year of which is probationary in the position of
Patrolman.

(90)   Sergeant

Must have performed satisfactorily in grade of
Corporal for at least one (1) year prior to being
eligible for this position.

(91)   Lieutenant

Must have remained in the grade of sergeant
for at least two (2) years prior to being eligible. Must
have an Associates Degree in Police or Business
Administration; or must have completed the F.B.I.
National Academy or one of the numerous specialized
Police Administrator courses given by several colleges as
approved by the Chief of Police; or any equivalent
combination of education and experience.

(91a) Police Captain

Must have remained in the grade of lieutenant
for at least two (2) years prior to being eligible. Must
have an Associates Degree in Police or Business
Administration; or must have completed the F.B.I.
National Academy or one of the numerous specialized
Police Administrator courses given by several colleges as
approved by the Chief of Police; or any equivalent
combination of education and experience.
