SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this
ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance
and necessary for the immediate preservation of the
public peace, health, safety, welfare and property, and
being passed by the affirmative vote of five(5) members
of the County Council the same shall take effect from the
date it becomes law,

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to repeal Section 1-217 of the
Anne Arundel County Code (1967 Edition and
Supplements), Title 1, "Administration", Subtitle 2,
"Personnel", Article II, "Classified Service", and
to enact new Section 1—217 in lieu thereof, to stand
in the place of the section repealed, to create the
new positions of Control Clerk, Senior Control
Clerk, Consumer Affairs Coordinator, Fire Protection
Engineer, Greenskeeper, Assistant Chief Building
Inspector, Assistant Chief Electrical Inspector,
Senior Erosion Control Inspector, Assistant Chief
Plumbing Inspector, Associate Data Processing
Equipment Operator, Automotive Mechanic III, Pipe
Layer, Administrative Secretary, and Signal
Technician; to change the minimum standards for the
positions of Police Captain, Deputy Police Chief,
Crew Leader, Firefighter I, Firefighter II,
Firefighter III, Chief Electrical Inspector, Chief
Plumbing Inspector, Police Lieutenant, and Police
Sergeant; to eliminate the positions of Constable
and Police Corporal; to alphabetize the job
