"Classified Service", to follow immediately after Section
1—211.3 thereof, and to read as follows:
Section 1-211.4
ANY EMPLOYEE REPRESENTED BY THE AMERICAN FEDERATION
OF STATE, COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES, AFFILIATED WITH
MARYLAND PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' COUNCIL 67, WHO HAS COMPLETED
HIS PROBATIONARY PERIOD AND WHO IS TEMPORARILY
TRANSFERRED TO A JOB CLASSIFICATION IN A HIGHER PAY GRADE
THAN HIS REGULAR JOB CLASSIFICATION FOR A PERIOD IN
EXCESS OF ONE (1) REGULAR WORK DAY, SHALL BE PAID FOR ALL
HOURS WORKED IN SUCH HIGHER PAY GRADE AT EITHER FIVE
PERCENT (5%) ABOVE THE REGULAR RATE OF HIS REGULAR JOB
CLASSIFICATION, OR THE MINIMUM RATE FOR THE HIGHER PAY
GRADE, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this
Ordinance shall take effect forty—five (45) days from the
date it becomes law provided, however, that the
provisions thereof shall be applied retroactively to July
1, 1973.

AN ORDINANCE to repeal and re—enact, with amendments,
Section 14-300(7) of the Anne Arundel County Code
(1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 14, "Police",
Subtitle 3, "Police and Fire Service Retirement", to
change the definition of "Final earnings" for
purposes of police and fire service retirement, to
make the provisions of said ordinance retroactive;
and matters generally related thereto.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Section 14-300 (7) of
the Anne Arundel County Code (1967 Edition and
Supplements), Title 14, "Police", Subtitle 3, "Police and
Fire Service Retirement", be, and it is hereby repealed
and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
Section 14-300
(7) Final earnings. The highest average rate of
earnings on any [five] THREE (3) consecutive anniversary
dates of the participant's date of retirement, date of
