RESOLUTION
CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 9

Removal of one—quarter mile restriction
on extension of boundaries.

Resolution of the Board of Commissioners of Rising
Sun, Maryland, adopted pursuant to the authority of
Article 11-E of the Constitution of the State of
Maryland, and Section 13 of Article 23A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, 1957 edition as amended, entitled
"Municipal - Corporations," to amend the Charter of
Rising Sun, this amendment to be entitled "Removal of
one—quarter mile restriction on extension of boundaries,"
such being the ninth amendment to that Charter, by
amending sub—section (b) of Section 31—9, "Corporate
Boundaries" of the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil
County, 1969 edition as amended, said amendment to remove
the one—quarter mile radius restriction on extention of
boundaries.

SECTION 1. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS OF RISING SUN that sub-section (b) of
Section 31-9, "Corporation Boundaries," of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Cecil County, Maryland, 1969 edition
as amended, be repealed and re—enacted to read as
follows:

(b) Extension of boundaries. The Commissioners
are empowered to extend the corporate bounds of the town
by ordinance OR AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED BY LAW [for a
radius of one—quarter mile in every direction] beyond the
boundaries as specified hereinabove in this section, or
any portion thereof. All the inhabitants of any
territory annexed or added under the authority of this
sub—section shall in all respects be subject to the
powers, jurisdiction and authority now vested or
hereafter vested by law in the commissioners of the town.
All of the ordinances and laws of the town shall be
extended and made applicable to any territory annexed or
added by said commissioners and all property, real or
personal in said territory shall be subject to
assessment, levy and taxation to the same extent as other
similar property with the present boundaries of said
town.
