AMENDMENT OF THE CHARTER

OF
TOWN OF LAYTONSVILLE

A RESOLUTION to amend Section 3(a) of the Charter of
the Town of Laytonsville so as to provide that the Mayor
of the Town shall be elected for a term of two years in
every odd—numbered year, commencing with the election
held in May, 1973,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
LAYTONSVILLE that:

Subsection (a) of section 3 of the Charter of the
Town of Laytonsville (§57—3 (a) of the Montgomery County
Code 1965 edition) which presently reads as follows:

["(a) The Mayor shall be elected annually at an
election held on the first Monday of May in each and
every year commencing in the year 1957, and he shall
serve for a term of one year or until his successor shall
be elected and qualify. At the same election held in
each and every year one councilman shall be elected and
he shall serve for a term of two years or until his
successor shall be elected and qualify, except that at
the election held in May, 1957, the voters shall elect
for a term of one year a councilman to fill the office
held by Councilman Luther C. Howard, and they shall elect
for a term of two years a councilman to fill the office
held by Councilman Washington W. White. Thereafter, one
councilman shall be elected each year to serve for two
years, except that any appointment or election to fill a
vacancy occurring before the expiration of a term shall
be for the remainder of the unexpired term."]
