the word "two" on the fourth line from the end of said
Section, and the substitution in lieu thereof of the word
"four", by the exclusion of the words and figures "three
hundred dollars ($300.00) per annum, payable
semi—annually" and the substitution in lieu thereof
respectively of the words and figures "two thousand five
hundred dollars ($2,500.00) per annum"1, and at the end of
said Section by the addition of the words "The Mayor
shall remain a resident of the City while holding
office," to read as follows:

Section 10. Mayor.

The Mayor of said town shall be a person of known
integrity, experience and sound judgment, not less than
[thirty] TWENTY-FIVE years of age, not less than ten
years a citizen of the United States and a resident of
said town for two years next preceding his election [,
who has been assessed upon the assessment books of said
town for the year prior to his election for not less than
three hundred dollars, and who has paid prior to his
election the taxes due thereon for said year]. The Mayor
shall hold office for [two] FOUR years from the fourth
Monday in March of the year of his election and until the
qualification of his successor. The salary of the Mayor
shall be [three hundred dollars $300.00) per annum,
payable semi-annually.] TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS
PER ANNUM. THE MAYOR SHALL REMAIN A RESIDENT OF THE CITY
WHILE HOLDING OFFICE.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the date of the adoption
of the Resolution is the 26th day of November, 1973, and
that the Amendment to the Charter of the City of Laurel,
hereby proposed by this enactment, shall be and become
effective on the 16th day of January, 1974, and a copy of
the title of this Resolution shall be published in a
newspaper of general circulation in the City of Laurel
not less than four times at weekly intervals before the
3rd day of January, 1974.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as soon as the
Charter Amendment hereby enacted shall become effective,
either as herein provided or following a referendum, the
Mayor of the City of Laurel shall send separately by
registered mail, to the Secretary of the State of
Maryland, to the Department of Legislative Reference,
Hall of Records Commission and State Library, the
following information concerning the Charter Amendment:

1.    The complete text of this Resolution;

2.    The date of the referendum election, if any,
held with respect thereto;
